Best Time to Hike
Early mornings or late afternoons are the best time to hike the Franz Josef Glacier Walk, with relatively fewer crowds and softer light for nature photography.
You will beat the tour bus crowd that typically arrives mid-morning and leaves early afternoon.
Summers (December to February) are the peak season, with warmer temperatures. Spring and autumn offer pleasant hikes as well with fewer tourists.
Winter offers crisp air and few tourists, with the prospect of seeing fresh snow on the surrounding peaks, but be prepared for rain.
